Artist Steen Jones Paints Black & White Mural On Iconic Melb Music Venue

It’s no secret that Melbourne is home to some of the most iconic music venues in the world, and a breeding ground for pretty incredible street art.

If both of these statements have tickled your fancy, get psyched to add another piece of street art to your Northside sight-seeing list – Brissy street artist Steen Jones has just completed his latest mural in Brunswick.

You’ll be able to peep the artist’s latest masterpiece at Spitfire – the front bar to new bandroom Stay Gold – and you’ll find that it’s pretty bloody impressive

“To say I’ve bitten off more than I can chew seems like an understatement – but opportunity knocks once,” Steen posted on the ‘gram 2 days before the opening. “Regardless, gonna give it my best shot …and ready for some celebratory Jack, dry & lime’s Friday arvo.” Mood.

Given that Brunswick is a hub for live music and street art, and Stay Gold has quickly become a pretty iconic bandroom since opening its doors last October, you probably don’t need another reason to head to Sydney Road… but, hey, now you do.

Stay Gold/Spitfire is now the perfect stopover to wet your whistle with a Jack Daniel’s whilst enjoying the wondrous work that is Steen’s.

Stay Gold and Spitfire are open from Wednesdays-Sundays. If you’re feeling a lil’ inspired by Steen Jones’ work, check more of his stuff out on his website and Instagram. Cheers to that, classy kids.
