Art Simone, Aussie drag icon, went to get vaxxed today in an extra AF dress that read “Get The Vax” and we love to see it.

Waiting in line to get vaccinated, the RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under star stood out like a sore thumb at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne on Friday.

Not only did Art Simone match her outfit to her mask, but her wig was embellished with literal syringes. The attention to detail in the overall fit was *chef’s kiss*.

Art Simone is super well known in the drag world (even pre Drag Race Down Under) featuring in Australian feature films theatrical shows, TV shows and has won Drag Performer of the Year two years running. So it’s great to see her using her platform to encourage people to get vaccinated.

Simone also uploaded some incredible pics waiting in line (socially distanced OFC) on her IG. I love how everyone else is just staring at their phone, acting like there isn’t a famous drag queen right in front of them.

On Thursday afternoon, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews made the announcement that Victoria would enter a seven-day snap lockdown – the state’s sixth lockdown since the pandemic began.

Once again there will only be five reasons for Victorians to leave their home:

  • exercise
  • to provide or receive caregiving
  • purchasing essential goods (eg. groceries and medication)
  • work if it cannot be conducted at home
  • receiving a vaccination

Of course, the best way out of these continuous lockdowns is to get vaccinated. If you’re not eligible for Pfizer but are concerned about getting the AstraZeneca jab, have a read of these 23 questions answered by an infectious disease expert.

All adult Aussies (yep, even if those of us under 40) are currently able to get the safe and effective AstraZeneca vaccine through a GP. Talk to a doctor to see if it’s right for you.

Alternatively, you can triple-check to see if you’re eligible for the Pfizer vaccine here.

The best vaccine is the first one you can get, and that’ll be our ticket out of this mess.
