Now that the silly season is off and running make sure you get out to any of the art exhibitions and shows opening around your neighbourhood. Here’s our picks of what’s happening around the country in art this week.

Who ANTHONY LISTER
What Of his solo show Memories Not Included Lister says, ‘What I read, what I see, what I do, who I know and what I eat for lunch, it’s all relevant to me. I guess I am in a perpetual state of accepting the obvious as a valid source of inspiration. And it’s also very important that my work continues to be fun and exciting to me.’ The Brisbane raised dude is one of Australia’s most successful exports in contemporary art. Make the most of this jaunt before he heads back to his Brooklyn studio.

Who FARRELL AND PARKIN
What Mangamorphosis is a series of digital prints and video animations by the prolific Farrell and Parkin where they have manipulate some of their existing self portraits and through a process where transgressing from the norm became the norm, they startlingly began morphing themselves into what could only be described as manga-like comic characters – hence the exhibition name.

Who GO FONT UR SELF*
What The awesome traveling typographic exhibition is making it’s next stop at the No Vacancy gallery in Melbourne featuring another great lineup of artists and designers: Mike Giant, Parra, Travis Millard, Hedof, Ozzie Wright, Sofles, Bones, Siggi Eggertsson, Well Dressed Vandals, Lachie Goldsworthy, and John Siddle. Yew.

Who DAIMON DOWNEY
What He’s better known for his work in Australia’s music industry but Daimon Downey’s creative output also falls within the realm of visual arts. His graphic and colourful first solo show of sculpture and paintings will be staged in a raw space as a pop up gallery.

Who KEN TAYLOR VS. DEB
What Secret Wars’ latest battle will be a cracker: Ken Taylor is an illustrator that is famous all over the world for his amazing style in the close nit world of rock poster art. He has designed posters for Ben Harper, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and the Arctic Monkeys to name but a few. Deb is one of Australia’s premier female artists, working on the street, commercially and in exhibitions. Deb has an iconic style that is instantly recognisable and is only the 2nd girl to participate in Secret Wars in Australia.

Who ‘PAPER TALES’ – Group Show
What This fine looking group show curated by Courtney Brims and Bec Winnel features contributed artworks from a female-heavy lineup including: Beci Orpin, Caitlin Shearer, Courtney Brims, Emma Sheldrake, Erin Flannery, Hannah Smith, Leah Bartholomew, Lilly Piri, Nicholas Chalmers and Sean Morris.
