Well, there it is: Armie Hammer has officially walked away from his upcoming film Shotgun Wedding following allegations about his sex life.
ICYMI: This week, a series of DMs went viral, showing Hammer allegedly speaking to the women in a way that is domineering and violent. At some points, the DMs speak of drinking blood, describe scenes of sexual control, and references cannibalism.
While Hammer has yet to comment on the scandal, Deadline has just revealed that the actor “requested to step away” from the Lionsgate action-comedy, where he was to star alongside Jennifer Lopez.
A spokesperson said in a statement:
“Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”
Shotgun Wedding follows Darcy (Lopez) and Tom (who Hammer was set to play), who set off with their respective families for the ultimate destination wedding just as the couple begin to get cold feet. Soon after, they find that their wedding jitters are the least of their worries as they’re suddenly taken hostage while travelling.
Hammer’s other upcoming projects include The Billion Dollar Spy, as well as a sequel to the 2017 Oscar-winning flick Call Me By Your Name, alongside Timothée Chalamet.
The studio is currently looking for a replacement for Armie Hammer.
Although the actor has yet to comment, a friend of his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers told DailyMail.com that she is understandably “shocked and sickened” by her ex’s alleged messages.
“Armie had a whole other side to him that she wasn’t aware of. Whether it was always there and he kept it hidden, or something happened that changed him completely, she doesn’t know,” the insider said.
One woman who accused Hammer of seriously gross conduct used an Instagram Story to allege she and other women had sex with the actor in his and Chamber’s bed.
“We all got told we are perfect. That he wants to run away with us. That it’s our world and fuck everyone else. He loved us all in his and [his ex’s] bed and made us a cute omelette after,” she wrote on Instagram.
“So we all had apartments ready for him around the world. So he met all our moms and they all loved him. So he told us all to be monogamous to him and wait for his divorce.
“And if I hadn’t spoken out. None of those things would’ve made sense.”
