Pete Davidson Backs Out Of ‘SNL’ Ariana Grande Sketch At The Last Minute

The downside of dating a comedian is that they’ll probably try and turn the pain of your breakup into jokes once the relationship is over, but Ariana Grande is having none of that, leading her ex Pete Davidson to cut a sketch about them from an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live.

As you may recall, earlier this week, Ariana vented her anger at a promo for this weekend’s episode, in which Pete jokingly proposed to musical guest Maggie Rogers, before getting shut down and saying he’s now “zero for three” in the relationship department.

Ari was not remotely pleased, and scorched her ex in a series of Tweets, saying “for somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh”.

It has since emerged that a planned sketch about their relationship has been cut completely from this weekend’s Jonah Hill-hosted episode, with friends of Pete’s saying that he got cold feet and decided he “didn’t want to go through with it.” Producer Lorne Michaels apparently gave his blessing for the sketch to be axed.

A source close to the former couple told E! News that: “She wasn’t amused by Pete’s jokes at all. They made an agreement that they would not address their relationship or discuss it after they split up. He violated that agreement and it really hurt her. She knew he would see her Tweet.”

Meanwhile, Ariana Grande appears to be moving onward and upward following the breakup. Taking to social media overnight, she revealed that her next album will be called Thank U, Next (a phrase she used as a kiss-off to Pete), and that we can expect a new single from it very soon.
