Ariana Grande‘s soon-to-be husband Pete Davidson found himself in some hot water last week when comments he made during a standup comedy routine in 2017 resurfaced.
According to The Sun, the incident occurred at LA’s Laugh Factory just five months after the bombing at his fiancé’s Manchester concert last year that claimed the lives of 22 people.
He reportedly said Grande must know how famous she had become because “Britney Spears didn’t have a terrorist attack at her concert.”

Now, Grande has responded to a fan who asked why she is still engaged to the Saturday Night Live comic.

Charlotte Hodgson, whose 15-year-old daughter Olivia Campbell-Hardy was killed in the attack, recently spoke out about the incident.
“For anyone to joke about this situation is disgusting and I think he should publicly apologise for it,” she told The Mirror. “The families will find it equally as disgusting.”
“We don’t need jokes about it, there have been plenty around, and it’s heartbreaking to hear every day. But for someone so famous to be doing it and now to be with Ariana, it’s outrageous. I think she would be horrified too.”
Sources told the publication that the joke was met with immediate backlash from the crowd.
“It drew gasps from the crowd and everyone squirmed in their seats, the event five months earlier was still pretty fresh, and there were plenty of British tourists in the crowd.”

Following the horrific attack, Grande put on a concert to raise money for victims where she and other artists including Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and more performed and ultimately raised $13 million.
In a recent interview, the singer revealed that she suffers from post traumatic stress disorder from the attack.
“It’s hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss,” she told British Vogue.
“But, yeah, it’s a real thing,” she continues. “I know those families and my fans, and everyone there experienced a tremendous amount of it as well. Time is the biggest thing. I feel like I shouldn’t even be talking about my own experience – like I shouldn’t even say anything. I don’t think I’ll ever know how to talk about it and not cry.”
Davidson has yet to comment on the incident.
