Anton Corbijn Planning New James Dean Biopic

A biopic that chronicles the life of James Dean is on its way and will be directed by Anton Corbijn.

The man whose directional debut was Control (the shimmering, raw grayscale biopic that tracked Ian Curtis and Joy Division) will take on another slice of pertinent pop culture history.
Aptly titled “Life”, the film depicts photographer Dennis Stock discovering an unknown Dean in 1955, and consequently, the relationship they carve out. At the time of writing, it seems it will involve things like journeys, free-spiritedness and grappling with self-belief in order to succeed as an artist. While these descriptors might call to mind the hit reality tv series The Voice, they’ll probably be quite different.

Luke Davies who wrote the brilliantly confronting “Candy” holds writing credits here. It shall be produced by Iain Canning and Emile Sherman for See-Saw Films (“The King’s Speech”) and pre-production is said to begin early next year. Casting scoops of the authentic or heresay variety are not yet known. Probably needs more James Franco.
