Angie Kent Says Living With Endometriosis Won’t Stop Her From Starting A Family

This morning when I rocked up to work, I trawled the interwebs for some Bachelorette tea ‘coz I know that’s what you sickos want, but what I found is a story that may not be as spicy but is absolutely more important than any gossip yarn you’ll read today.

In a new interview, 2019’s Bachelorette Angie Kent has opened up about her dream of becoming a mother, despite being diagnosed with endometriosis.

“Whether it is adopting or fostering, I will have babies however I can,” she told Sydney Confidential.

“That is something you find out when you try and I haven’t tried. But having endometriosis, it does make it that bit harder.”

She goes on to say that her potential inability to have a child will not stop her from becoming a mother one day.

“And if I am unable to carry a child, I will still be a mother no matter what as I have always wanted to be one since I was a little girl.”

Angie revealed that she underwent keyhole surgery to treat the condition three years ago, but has yet to explore what it could mean for her future as a mum.

According to Endometriosis Australia, endometriosis is a chronic condition when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus exists outside the endometrium, causing pain and/or infertility.

Treatment for the disorder can include taking the pill, or using another form of contraception that releases progestogens, like an IUD or the rod, to shrink the affected tissue. A surgical treatment like a laparoscopy or laparotomy may be an option, where they remove tissue thought to contain endometriosis.

More than 700,000 women are estimated to be living with endo in Australia according to the Department of Health‘s National Action Plan for Endometriosis released in July last year.
