And Just Like That… the Sex and the City gals returned to our screens in style last night as the hotly anticipated revival debuted on BINGE.

In true Sex and the City fashion, the first ep was one chaotic ride, with two major characters being killed off.

As has long been rumoured, the topic of Samantha’s (Kim Cattrall) absence was addressed early on in the show, with the girls explaining that the PR maven moved to London after falling out with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker).

Basically what happened is, Carrie ditched Samantha as her book publicist as she was shifting her focus from print to other mediums (including her new role as a podcast co-host) and Samantha’s pride was wounded.

Because of this, she ups and moves to London, cutting off all three girls, not unlike what happened IRL.

A production source recently shared to DailyMail.com that “viewers will learn that Samantha and Carrie have fallen out over Carrie firing Samantha as her publicist and that they no longer talk. This effectively ends their personal relationship.”

“You’ll see as the series progresses over the 10 episodes that Carrie misses her friend and wants to repair the relationship.

“In the words of Oscar Wilde, life imitates art.”

And that’s not the only character who was dramatically killed off.

Another production source recently spilled to Daily Mail that Carrie’s hubby Big (Chris Noth) is set to be killed off in the first ep and whataya know? They were bloody right!

In the final moments of the episode, Big dies of a heart attack while exercising and Carrie finds him at death’s door in the shower. Then in the next episode, we see Carrie plan and attend Big’s funeral.

“This is all top secret at the moment, because production has just started, but in the first episode fans will be served up a jaw-dropping storyline where one of the major names on the show will die,” the insider revealed.

“Those in the know are calling it a ‘big death’, which obviously has everyone leaping to the conclusion that Mr. Big will be no more.”

Apparently only senior cast and crew were told about this and they were “sworn to secrecy”.

“Only the leading stars and show executives are aware of this presently and are desperate to keep a lid on it – a coffin lid,” they said.

So why all the changes? Well, according to the source, SJP wanted to “shake up audiences from the get go to make them realise this is a different paced show from the previous one, where anything can happen and anyone can go… just like life.” Welp, mission accomplished!

The first two episodes of And Just Like That are now streaming on BINGE and Foxtel.
