Jon Stewart‘s tenure on The Daily Show is winding down, but on one of his final episodes this week, Amy Schumer joined him as a guest, because why the hell wouldn’t you have her on your show one last time?
The pair covered a wide range of topics, from Schumer’s new-found friendship with Jennifer Lawrence, to her reaction when she heard the news of the mass-shooting that claimed three lives at a Louisiana screening of Trainwreck.
“This crazy shooting that happened, that must have rocked you to your core,” Stewart said.
Schumer joked that, before the realised what had actually happened that day, she had so many missed calls she assumed one of her sex tapes had leaked on the internet.
“I was legit heartbroken just to get that news,” she said. “The second this happens, you want to act.”
Earlier this week, the comedian joined her cousin, Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer, to launch a bill calling for tighter gun control in America. “So yeah,” she continued, “this [had] been in the works, and I was so happy he invited me to be a part of it.”
Schumer also described her new-found friendship with Jennifer Lawrence, saying she was mildly perturbed when pictures of them on jet skis went viral, because “it’s the last person you want to be next to … I look like her coach.”

When considering possible Daily Show replacements earlier this year, Stewart put Schumer’s name forward, but she turned the job down. He now says she made the right call.
“I feel like your comedy is informed, it comes from a place of real intentions, and a show like this would have been so good for you,” he told her. “But I hadn’t seen your movie at that point – you’re like an actress-star.”
