American Horror Story season nine is officially in the works so what is co-writer Ryan Murphy‘s first order of business? Welcoming back Emma Roberts (of course) and casting newcomer Gus Kenworthy, an Olympic freestyle skier and silver medallist.

As you do.

Roberts will reprise her role as one Madison Montgomery while Kenworthy will star as her boyfriend.

Murphy revealed the news on Instagram writing: “That special moment when you realise you have an Olympic medal AND will be playing Emma Roberts’ boyfriend on ‘American Horror Story’ Season 9.”

Kenworthy re-posted the photo to his account with the caption: “I guess the cat’s out of the bag. I’m so fucking shook. ILSYM Ryan Murphy.”

Per The Hollywood ReporterMurphy has shared some details about season nine with FX CEO John Landgraf but of course, it’s far too early to let any of that slip.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for Murphy’s new Netflix series Ratched. AHS veteran Sarah Paulson stars as the titular character and will be joined by – as Murphy described them – a“true murderers’ row of talent”. That’s Sharon Stone, Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis, Finn Wittrock, Jon Jon Briones, Charlie Carver, Harriet Harris, Hunter Parrish, Amander Plummer, and Corey Stoll.

“So many of these actors are supremely talented folks who Sarah and I have both longed to work with,” Murphy wrote on Instagram.

The series, according to Variety, is already set for two seasons. Based on the character from the Ken Kesey novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Paulson will star as Nurse Ratched as she transforms from an average nurse into the downright terrifying antagonist she has come to be known as.
