All Hail Michael Fassbender In The Incredibly Gripping ‘Macbeth’ Trailer

Out, damned trailer! Out I say!

Adapting any of Shakespeare’s finest work to screen is hardly new; but when a flawless cast and a perfect director come along and give it a shot – HOO BOY. (CC: Kenneth Branagh‘s Hamlet; David Tenant as Hamlet).

What is perhaps Shakespeare’s darkest tragedy, Macbeth, however, hasn’t seen nearly as many on-screen adaptations as its siblings Othello, Hamlet or Rome and Juliet have; it’s fitting, then, that one of Australia’s most legendary directors—Justin Kurzel (Snowtown)—is the only director in recent memory to bring Macbeth faithfully to life.

Premiering at Cannes this year, Macbeth stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard as the eponymous power couple, while the raw vistas of on-location filming in Scotland faithfully adds impeccable depth and atmosphere to the original’s Scottish context.

Gritty, affecting, and absolutely mesmerising, the following trailer is your new obsession.
