Alison Brie Says Allegations Against James Franco Are Not “Fully Accurate”

Alison Brie has addressed the allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against her brother-in-law James Franco, saying “not everything that’s been reported is fully accurate”.

Asked by E! News for her thoughts on the importance of “transparency” in the Time’s Up movement in relation to the accusations made against Franco, the GLOW star said “I think that above all what we’ve always said is that it remains vital that anyone who feels victimized should, and does, have the right to speak out and come forward.”

Brie, who is married to James’ brother and The Disaster Artist co-star Dave, said she backs her family, and that they’re “waiting to get all of the information.

“But of course I think now is a time for listening and that’s what we’re all trying to do.”

Franco has been accused of engaging in sexually exploitative behaviour against acting students and sexually assaulting a former partner. Those accusations arose online during his appearance at the Golden Globes, during which he wore a Time’s Up pin.

At the Women’s March in Los Angeles over the weekend, Scarlett Johansson called out Franco, saying “how could a person publicly stand by an organization that helps to provide support for victims of sexual assault while privately preying on people who have no power?”
