It turns out we’ve mispronouncing Alicia Silverstone‘s name incorrectly this whole time, and it wasn’t until the actress revealed the mistake on TikTok that anyone bloody noticed. Oops
Ever since the blonde bombshell graced our screens as Cher in Clueless, Alicia Silverstone has been a household name. Not sure about you, but I’ve been pronouncing it as Al-EE-sha. Well, it’s not that. It’s actually Ali-SEE-yuh. I’m shook.
But I love that it wasn’t until TikTok that she thought to correct everyone. Silverstone reckons that she doesn’t personally care how people pronounce it, but her mum does, which is why she thought she better let us plebs know.

I personally relate very strongly to this. My name is often mispronounced as S-A-ski-uh instead of S-UH-ski-uh. And don’t get me started on my hellish surname either.
To be fair, I’m shocking at pronouncing names. Reading the Twilight books was an absolute nightmare, because I genuinely thought daddy vampire Carlisle was pronounced Carli-ZEL. RIP my dignity.
Aside from reminding the public that we’ve royally fucked up her name, Silverstone has made a few other TikToks and she is absolutely slaying the game.
My fave is this TikTok when the 90s icon recreated the famous scene where Cher pushes a guy off of her and says: “ew get off me…ugh, as if.”
