30 Rock star Alec Baldwin has been arrested and faces a possible assault charge after allegedly punching another man in a dispute over a parking space in New York.

The altercation reportedly occurred in the West Village neighbourhood of Manhattan, when the 60-year-old actor had a family member holding a parking spot for his Cadillac Escalade.

Another driver in a silver Saab allegedly swooped in and took the spot at the last second, leading to what was described as a physical altercation between the two.

Police say that they arrived at the scene to find the 49-year-old driver of the other vehicle “conscious and alert with an injury to his jaw”. He was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Alec Baldwin now faces charges of harassment and misdemeanour third-degree assault.

The actor was previously arrested in 2014, after riding his bike the wrong way in traffic, then becoming angry with officers who pulled him up on it.

He was cited for disorderly conduct and a traffic violation, and later declared that New York is “a mismanaged carnival of stupidity.”

US President Donald Trump has already commented on Baldwin’s arrest, because that’s the world we all live in now.

When asked for his thoughts by reporters, Trump replied “I wish him luck”.
