Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston Are Reuniting For A Netflix Murder Mystery

So this could potentially be very weird. Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are reuniting for a Netflix film. But wait for it, the movie’s a murder mystery and quite literally called Murder Mystery.

Interesting, very interesting.

According to Variety, the story will follow a married couple who become the main suspects in the murder of an elderly billionaire. Sandler plays a New York cop and Aniston plays his wife and the murder apparently goes down while the couple are vacationing in Europe. I’m getting Date Night vibes.

Knowing Sandler, I don’t think anyone’s expecting something like Broadchurch but considering his and Aniston’s success on Just Go With It, this new film might actually do pretty well with the people.

This will be Aniston’s first Netflix gig (and hopefully not the last) while Sandler has a coupla Netflix titles under his name. Don’t remember (or want to) them? There’s Sandy Wexler, The Ridiculous Six, The Do-Over, and The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected). That last one was actually pretty damn good. Even Sandler, who usually gets torn to shreds by critics, was highly praised for his performance as Danny Meyerowitz.

Murder Mystery will be directed by Kyle Newacheck and the script was written by James Vanderbilt. The latter you may know for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, its sequel, White House Down, and Zodiac.

No word yet on a potential release date but in the mean time Sandler’s latest Netflix gig, The Week Of  co-starring Chris Rock lands on your screens April 27. The gist of this movie is that a hardworking ol’ man played by Sandler tries to pay for his daughter’s wedding day and has to compete against the groom’s very wealthy daddy AKA Chris Rock.

And yes, it is by Happy Madison Productions.

You can check out the trailer below. It’s classic Adam Sandler.
