Actor and Director Richard Attenborough Dead At 90

Award-winning director and a prolific actor best known and beloved for his role as the madcap scientist central to the premise of Jurassic ParkLord Richard Attenborough – not to be confused with his younger brother, David – died earlier this morning at age 90. Attenborough’s son confirmed his passing to the BBC without providing any further information; the family are expected to release a full statement later today.

Over the span of a career that lasted six decades, Attenborough appeared in films as varied as The Great Escape and Miracle on 34th Street, was awarded a life peerage by Queen Elizabeth II for his championing of the arts and won two Oscars – including Best Picture and Best Director – for his 1982 biopic Ghandi.
“I have no interest in being remembered as a great creative filmmaker,” is a quote of his running in high circulation today. “I want to be remembered as a storyteller.”
