There is no better backdrop for political commentary than the conniving machinations of ‘Game of Thrones’, in which characters plot, backstab, influence, manipulate and outright assassinate one another, all in the name of acquiring power.
It seems only fitting then, that American politics’ longest-running joke Donald Trump be inserted into that Machiavellian mess.
ABC‘s political satirist / mash-up legend Huw Parkinson did just that for ‘Insiders’, smoothly inserting Trump’s latest headline-grabbing garbage – a public stoush with the Pope – into GoT, turning him into pretty much every bad guy.
Seems legit.
ICYMI, Trump recently-ish proclaimed that if he became President, he would build a giant wall to keep Mexicans out of America (his ideas thereby committing the crime of being entirely unoriginal as well as racist).
While visiting Mexico last week, the Pope said that “anyone, whoever he is, who only wants to build walls and not bridges is not a Christian,” to which Trump fired back: “For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful.”
