How you do welcome in an Aussie Christmas movie? With prawns, tinnies, and a blue carpet, naturally.

Thursday night saw the world premiere of Stan’s Original Film A Sunburnt Christmas, rolling out the blue carpet for the film’s stars at Sydney’s United Opera Quays cinema (a.k.a. the one near the Opera House).

The movie, helmed by comedy legend and bonafide Bondi Hipster Christiaan Van Vuuren, takes place in the Aussie outback. A runway criminal dressed as Santa Clause (Daniel Henshall) crashes into the lives of a single mum (Lena Nankivell) and her kids, who think the fake Santa is the real thing.

“It’s an Aussie Christmas movie, probably unlike every other Christmas movie you’ve ever seen,” Van Vuuren told PEDESTRIAN.TV at the premiere.

The cinema was decked out in Aussie Christmas classics: prawns on the barbie, bucket hats, and Chrissy wreaths decorated with tinnies, sunnies and thongs.

To add the icing on the cake – or should that be the fruit on the pav? – tuckboxes in the form of Aussie Christmas dinners were provided to all. Bitta prawns, ham, potatoes, red frogs, cheese and bikkies goes down alright.

A Sunburnt Christmas is out on Stan Australia tonight, so if you wanna get into the festive spirit but in an Aussie way, it’s a must-watch.

FYI – Christiaan is also starring in the Stan Original Series, Dom & Adrian 2020, which premieres Sunday. Busy, busy boy.
