50 Cent Accuses Oprah Of Only “Going After Black Men” In Her #MeToo Activism

50 Cent has accused Oprah Winfrey of being racially biased in her #MeToo activism, saying that the star only “goes after” black men like Russell Simmons and Michael Jackson.

Last week, Oprah announced that she is producing an Apple TV+ documentary on sexual assault in the music industry, featuring one of Simmons’ accusers, former Def Jam exec Drew Dixon.

Following on from the announcement, 50 Cent took to Instagram to air his grievances, saying “I don’t understand why Oprah is going after black men,” adding “this shit is sad.”

Mentioning Jackson and Simmons as well as R. Kelly, who was the subject of a Gayle King interview, he accused her of ignoring white perpetrators like Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein.

Russell Simmons also criticised Oprah in a lengthy Instagram post, saying that he is upset to be “singled out” in her upcoming documentary, and maintaining his innocence in the face of his accuser.

Oprah has not responded to 50 Cent or Simmons. Her still-untitled documentary, set to premiere next year, has been described as:

“… a profound examination of race, gender, class and intersectionality, and the toll assaults take on their victims and society at large.”
