I can’t believe it’s almost award season again (in this lockdown??), but here we are: the 2021 Emmy nominations are out, and both The Crown and The Mandalorian have cleaned up. 24 nominations each? Not bhed.
Following swiftly behind them is WandaVision with 23 nominations, and Ted Lasso with a none-too-shabby 20.
Michaela Coel‘s fantastic I May Destroy You is going head-to-head with the Kate Winslett vehicle Mare of Easttown, which hurts me personally but I suppose I shall get through. Maybe Lindsay Lohan can pop along to break the statue. “A piece for my girl Kate, a true Spring Fling Queen- …er, Emmy winner.”
Everyone’s favourite horny drama Bridgerton got three nominations, including a best actor in a drama series nom for Regé-Jean Page, aka the hot duke. Do you know how hard it is to pretend to pull out repeatedly on set? Give my man 20.
Bringing up the rear with one Emmy nomination is none other than Emily in Paris. It was nommed for Best Comedy Series (coming up against PEN15 and Ted Lasso, so, lol), but that one Emmy nomination will be one Emmy too many for some. Much to ponder.
Most of these shows are available to rip through on Australian streaming platforms: PEN15 and The Handmaid’s Tale are on Stan, Mare of Easttown and I May Destroy You are on Binge, WandaVision and The Mandalorian are on Disney+, Ted Lasso is on Apple TV+, and Bridgerton is, of course, on Netflix.
