‘13 Reasons’ Fans Livid At Show For Glorifying Its Most Toxic Relationship

Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why has had it’s fair share of controversy – given the entire show centres around a bunch of tapes left behind by a teen girl who dies by suicide, it’s pretty understandable that the popular show has garnered some pretty polarising opinions.

The latest hot water for the show comes via it’s official Twitter account, which posted this truly problematic promo pic.

The problem? Justin and Jessica, the two characters featured in a cute, romantic embrace, are not exactly the kind of couple you want to be romanticising. Basically (spoiler alert) in the show, Justin does shit-all to stop his best friend Bryce from raping Jessica while she’s flat out drunk, literally standing back and allowing it to happen. And then repeatedly lies to her to convince her the memories that start creeping back are false. Revolting.

Understandably, people were pissed – taking to their own Twitter accounts to call out the fucked tweet.
