ScoMo Announces New Crackdowns Incl. Food Courts, Beauty Treatments & Funerals Limited To 10

After an emergency national cabinet meeting held in Canberra this evening, ScoMo has announced the latest nationwide crackdowns.

Aside from cafés being limited to takeaway (which was already enforced on Sunday night), services that will be closing indefinitely include food courts, beauty treatments (such as nail salons, massage parlours, waxing and tanning facilities), nightclubs, amusement parks, arcades, play centres, libraries, museums and community facilities, such as RSLs. (Apologies for that extremely long list but, wow, it’s a lot.)

Activities such as real estate auctions, auction houses and open house inspections will also be halted.

While funerals and boot camps have been limited to no more than 10 people, weddings have limited to no more than 5.

Hairdressers and barber shops will remain open, and indoor and outdoor markets (excluding food markets) will be addressed specifically by their states according to their respective jurisdictions.

“By following common sense rules, doing the right thing,” he stated this evening. “that’s how we save lives.”

These latest crackdowns will come into effect from midnight tomorrow.

More to come.
