It’s day three of working from home for me and I am angsty. My normal work routine – of catching a bus and two trains, going for walks around the block, speaking to my colleagues in the flesh – has been put on hold. But socially distancing ourselves is the right thing to do, to help curb the spread of coronavirus and to help prevent our health care systems from becoming overwhelmed. Not to mention, I’m also one of the lucky ones that can actually work from home. So it’s time to adapt, to keep busy, and to gain some sense of normalcy again, which is why I’ve decided to make my lazy ass exercise on the daily. And by daily I mean, two to three times a week.
So, where do I begin? Well, a reader has brought my attention to Melbourne-based fitness company Callie. The Callie, according to the description is “a lightweight fitness kit designed to replicate your workout from the gym.” TICK.
The Callie kit was designed by Aussie Char Fisher and her partner Max Shepherd-Cross, a couple who love to travel and eat. Determined to find a way to balance food with fitness while on holiday, the team came up with Callie.
“Using my knowledge as a fitness instructor at F45, I designed a travel kit that not only replicated our HIIT based workout from the gym – but also is so light weight – weighing in at less than 500 grams – that it easily fits into your hand luggage,” Char explains on the Callie website.
Each Callie kit includes a loop band (or a booty band as some call it), a resistance strength band, an adjustable skipping rope, core sliders, and workout cards that’ll guide you through 20-30 minute HIIT workouts. HOW GOOD.
And because the Callie kit is so lightweight and easy to use from home, the team have created a quarantine workout to maintain your physical and mental health.
Via Callie’s Instagram bio, you can find the full 30-minute home workout, including warmup and cool down. I spy reps of burpees, mountain climbers, and side planks.

OR, I’d absolutely recommend the guided workouts from Maddie Lymburner, otherwise known as MadFit on YouTube. When I first subscribed to her channel last year, she had 60,000 subs. Now she has 1.5 million on YouTube. Enough said. Her home workouts are absolutely divine and focus on every single bit of your body. She also uploads a lot, with a couple of new videos a week. And, she choreographs full body workouts to new bops all the time.
I cannot put into words how lazy and unfit I am, but Maddie always makes me want to exercise.
Other bop workouts include Billie Eilish‘s Bad Guy, Lizzo‘s Truth Hurts, and Boy With Luv by BTS ft. Halsey.
You know who also pushes me to workout from the comfort of my screen? Cassey Ho of Blogilates. There are a whole slew of other personal trainers on YouTube, many who offer free workouts. All you gotta do is find the right one for you.Image: Callie - Travel Fit
