10 Restaurants In The Brisbane Area Copped Hats In The Prestigious Good Food Awards

Good Food Guide Awards - ARC Dining - Brisbane

It’s Christmas for foodies right now, seeing as the Good Food Guide Awards just dropped their full list of 2020 winners. Of that list, 45 Aussie restaurants scored their first Good Food Chef Hat. Impressively, a full 10 of those restaurants were gems in and very closely around Brisbane.

So because it’s nearly lunch and I’m super hungry and trying to work out what to eat, I’m going to make all our mouths water with some visuals from these newly hatted spots…and then I’m going to plan a weekend of stuffing my face in Brissy. Cool? Cool.

Not one, but TWO hats were given to the small and mighty Joy Restaurant in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley (aka The Valley). There are only 10 seats, so get in ahead of time!

2. ARC Dining

The Howard Smith Wharves are a relatively new part of Brissy and a perfect one-stop-shop for killer restaurants, like ARC Dining, and a water view.

3. Donna Chang

A little modern Chinese food anyone? Donna Chang is serving up just that in the heart of Brisbane using the best local ingredients to create a new twist.

4. Golden Pig

One of the owners, Katrina Ryan, is the former Head Chef in Neil Perry’s famous ‘Rockpool’ restaurant. So it’s not surprising she knows how make hat-worthy dishes.

5. Greca

Also among the Howard Smith Wharves, Greca is serving up contemporary Greek delights. Their desserts look particularly intriguing to me so save room.

6. Honto

Who doesn’t love Japanese food? Back to Fortitude Valley for Honto’s Japanese cuisine with just a hint of Australian influence mixed in.

7. Labart

Moving (slightly) out of Brissy to Burleigh Heads, Labart is serving up modern Aussie cuisine with a seasonal share-style menu.

8. Little Valley

Are you ready for this one? It’s a self-described “neo-Chinese restaurant, bar and Píjiu garden” hanging out in The Valley. PS. the Píjiu garden is a function space, I checked.

9. Restaurant Dan Arnold

Don’t leave The Valley just yet folks, Restaurant Dan Arnold is right nearby where Dan Arnold is using his experience cooking for Michelin star restaurants to bring the magic to his home town.

10. Sum Yung Guys

Again, head just a short way out of Brissy to hit up the modern Asian cuisine of Sum Yung Guys. This is the brainchild of MasterChef alumni, Matty Sinclair and his mates.
