How To Eat Your Way Through A Weekend In Brisbane Like The Locals

The best way to experience a new place is by doing as the locals do. They’ve already tried the things and worked out what’s best so you can cut the experimentation and make the most of your weekend away. Which is why I did a survey of the Brisbane locals – yes, mostly my friends and fam, but still – to get the local scoop for you. Enjoy!

Nodo Dounuts

Violent crumble waffles, need I say more! Awesome brekkie spot, a great place to sit in for brunch or get a donut to go.

Lefty’s is a beautiful saloon style bar with great live music and cocktails and a speakeasy feel. Bloodhound is your typical dive bar with tasty imported and local beers on tap!”
– Shania

Fish Lane

Grass Fed does the most amaze vegan burgers, Julius does amazing Italian food including the BEST Aperol Spritz literally ever. Hello Please does Vietnamese street food under fairy lights and huuuge Mohammad Ali mural. There’s so much more cool stuff here.

Crust & Company Artisan Baking

It’s a random spot behind the semi-industrial area in suburban Newmarket. Best pastries in Brisbane and seriously contends with pastries I had in Paris – worth the line up at the door each week and line up down the carpark on Mother’s/Father’s Day. Cash only.
– Kate

The Junk Bar

The Junk Bar is a low-key suburban place with unreal retro interior and quirky quirky cocktails.
– Justine

Jocelyn’s Provisions

Expect the most beautiful sweets and cakes that look like they’re from a country kitchen but are so very refined. First birthday cake I had when I moved to Brisbane was a heart shaped butter cake with real passion fruit icing. Epic.

Caravanserai Turkish Restaurant

This is the best Turkish in Brissy – it literally never lets you down. BYO, generous banquets, and a great location make it a winner.
– Laura

Howard Smith Wharves

It’s a new addition to Brissy’s food/entertainment scene located under the Story Bridge. It’s an awesome place to hang riverside and has a dining option for everyone – and still more places to open!.
– Heath

Little Clive

I can’t go passed Little Clive for their waffles of the month! Always so, so good.
– Jess

City Winery

Fantastic concept- and in the middle of the city! (even better)…. it is impossible to fault this venue. Food is impeccable, wines are stunning and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable about everything inhouse. Favourite place to dine in Brisbane
