From Boring To Glitoris, These Were Our Most Popular Job Ads Of 2017

One of the worst parts about going for a job is having virtually no scope of the competition to the point where you don’t even know if there is competition. So we did a bit of a number crunch on the postings at PEDESTRIAN.TV JOBS to find the most popping ads of the year.

And judging by the disparity by our top viewed/applied jobs, it looks like a lot of people click on their dream job, but that doesn’t mean they apply.

By a quick skim, the most popular industries for our readers that jump out are marketing and PR, which means competition is likely to be fierce. You’ll have to pull your finest Kelly Cutrone impersonations if you want to be la créme de la cremé.

Watch The Hills and repeat everything she says.

Our top-viewed job of 2017, though, was to be a casting assistant at Mullinars Casting, which proves we’re all moths to the flame of fame. Let it burn bright but not brief.

Next up, we had Concrete Playground’s call out for freelance writers and photographers, proving that people are pretty attracted to the idea of getting paid to scope out new restaurants.

That seems to be a bit of a trend: people gravitate towards industry with obvious insider perks, like working as a media assistant or tour marketing manager. Essentially, if you can map out the beginnings of a Bondi Hipsters sketch somewhere in the job description, it’s on the list.

Slightly more left of field is our fourth most-viewed ad to join the Glitoris gang and apply copious amounts of glitter to festival goers, like so. It’s a shiny job, but one which comes with the knowledge that you’ve essentially given punters the Sisyphian post-festival task of removing all traces of this amount of glitter from their lives:

Another thing that sticks out was the noticeable shift in colour in terms of the jobs with the most applications. Warehouse packers and Adelaide receptionists mightn’t raked in the clicks, but heaps of you applied. Of course, we’re not suggesting that there’s anything bad about those positions. It’s perhaps just a sign that we’re all guilty of keeping tabs on glittery dream jobs without biting the bullet and applying.

See the top 10 lists below, and congrats if you were the lucky reader who landed any of these spots. You could always get a head-start on 2018, too. Chuck our current job listings a quick look: we won’t tell your boss.
