Um…did you know we lose our sense of smell when we sleep? I sure didn’t. I knew smoke alarms were important and recommended and all, but I always just thought…well actually, now I’m considering it, I have no idea what I thought. Regardless my mind is blown. These are just a tiny glimpse into the many tidbits actual, real-life firefighter Lance Tighe has to impart on us mere and foolish mortals.

What motivated Lance to study Indigenous Fire and Rescue Employment Strategy (IFARES) designed by Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) in partnership with TAFE NSW to recruit Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, and follow this career path?

The thing that attracted me to become a firefighter was the mateship, the camaraderie, the community aspect that they have. Best job in the world.
