Craft Beer Legends Young Henrys Announce Their Latest Drop Is Hemp Beer

The good people over at Young Henrys have collaborated with Byron Bay clothing label Afends to bring you one of the first legal hemp beers in Australia, using 100 per cent natural water soluble technology.

The creation of two like-minded brands, the Young Henrys & Afends Hemp IPA is a naturally brewed beverage which stands for sustainability and the creation of eco-friendly products. And, it’s just another reminder of the ever-so rising hemp industry.

Twelve mammoth months in the making, Young Henrys co-founder Oscar McMahon said it all started with a bit of beer + hemp experimenting with Daniel Schultz of Halcyon BioScience.

“We’re stoked to be sharing a brand new way of using hemp in beer that tastes bloody incredible,” McMahon said.

So what can you expect? Aromas of citrus, tropical and stone fruits, some spice berry, and biscuit and toasted bread flavours.

HELL YEAH.

Through this new drop, the Young Henrys crew want to shine a light on the positivity of hemp as a health food and of course, as an ingredient in beer.

“We have made this beer together with the help of some incredibly intelligent heavy hitters from the hemp and science world to show there is more substance to this concept than just some middle finger rebellion,” McMahon said.

Young Henrys & Afends Hemp IPA will be available on tap and in cans across selected venues come October 24.

Here’s a fun fact: since the law around hemp product labels are a tad strict – no images of any part of the hemp plant other than the seed, no references to any psychoactive effect, no usage of the words “cannabis” or “marijuana” – Young Henrys and Afends incorporated a cheeky police graphic in the artwork on the tins to represent every single damn hoop the team had to jump through to get this product on the market.
