Move over feta pasta trend, there’s a new pasta dish on TikTok and it’s already received a carb-tonne more views than its predecessor. Introducing the honeycomb pasta dish, which has over 13M views, and has already insulted TikTok Italians.
Ciao friends and former lovers, it’s about time you learnt about the new pasta dish that is going absolutely gangbusters on TikTok.
I remember when the feta pasta trend went viral, there was genuinely a lack of feta and cherry tomatoes in the stores. Carts were filled with shell pasta, and a whole bunch of young uni kids could be seen grabbing fresh basil for the first time in their lives. It was one hell of a time.
The main gripe with that trend, from an Italian’s perspective, was the oddity of feta being in pasta. Nonna wept, but I cheered, because the dish was fkn delicious, and the boyfriend and I would make it again in a heartbeat (although I have educated his Scottish self that feta on pasta is a slight against every ancestor I’ve ever had.)
This new dish looks just as delicious, but is just as insulting. Maybe that’s why I love it so much, because it’s so, so forbidden. Garden of Eden apple kinda tease, ya feel me?
Honeycomb pasta, introduced by user @bananalovesyoutoo (Anna Rothfuss), involves putting string cheese (I am SO sorry Nonna) into large pasta tubes, then absolutely slathering it in sauce, meat and even more cheese.
It’s a bit like nonsensical nachos, but alas, watch for yourself.
The vid has over 13M views, and has been recreated by many a TikTok user. Looks like we have a new viral trend on our hands boys.
Yummmmmooo. I mean, absolutely not. No. I mustn’t.
The best reactions to the honeycomb pasta bake dish are from TikTok’s The Pasta Queen, who is Italian as hell and has already called the dish “blasphemy.”
And here she is reacting to the OG honeycomb pasta video, in which the use of Prego is incredibly insulting.
(I mean, I agree, don’t fkn use Prego pre-made sauce you animals.)
She even went to the lengths of making her own authentic Italian pasta bake dish that is absolutely delicious. Why isn’t this one trending? I have no idea. But this one pleases my Nonna.
If you need me I’ll be in the kitchen making both variants, because I’m a traitor to my own people, and a sucker for delicious viral pasta trends.
