A Syd Eatery Is Letting You Smash All Their Plates At This One-Off Event, You Angry Kent

If you’ve always wanted to go hell-for-leather on your Mum’s crockery but you’re way too much of an angel to actually break her heart and her good Wedgewood, then you’re gunna be very stoked on this one-off full demolition shindig in Sydney next week.

Hosted by the inky blackness of Kraken Rum, Sydney folks are invited to awaken their own inner Kraken (big, angry squid monster) at Luke’s Kitchen in Waterloo on October 10.

For 35 clean crisp buckaroos you can cop a taste of some of the delights from the cooktop at Luke’s Kitchen, boogie to some live and loud music, sip on some boozy rum cocktails, and punch ceramics through to next month. Just really go to town on some crockery. Absolutely decimate your grandma’s finest china.

I mean who doesn’t want the chance to go absolutely balls-to-the-wall boonta on a stack of plates in public in a socially-acceptable environment? Hell, whenever I try to frisbee a plate at the wall I’m told I have to “leave the restaurant” because I’m “making a scene.”

All of the smashed bits will also be turned into something beautiful – an art installation by ceramicist Pamela Irving – just to remind you that rebirth is possible and sometimes something great can come out of releasing all your frustrations and fully leaning into your emotions.

Plus the food coming out of the kitchen looks really bloody good.

Corral the whole group chat together and work out all those underlying frustrations that you’ve quietly bubbled up like a bottle of old milk in the back of the fridge, and cop a ticket to the monster-unleashing plate smashing event over here.
