Anyone with fond memories of Sydney nightlife over the past decade and more almost certainly has a section of those memories dedicated to debauchery and way-too-late nights at the Flinders Hotel. I would retell some of my own stories but they contain far too many illegal elements to be published.
After shutting down in January 2015 – with the owners placing the blame squarely on the lockouts – it’s back with a bang. Featuring a brand new, lusher and brighter fitout, the new Flinders will be making the most of its 3am licence.
We want to build on what made the Flinders a go-to spot in it heyday, with a few aesthetic tweaks,” a venue spokesperson told PEDESTRIAN.TV. “It’s always been a cool dive-pub with rad music and drink offerings, so we’ve added to that and brought in a some new flavour.”

They’re pretty clear on one thing – this is a big middle finger to the lockouts. “Fuck the lockouts. We’re excited to breathe life back into a Sydney favourite,” said the spokesperson. “This city needs and deserves it.”
The Flinders is officially kicking into gear with a relaunch party this Saturday the 13th of May – they’ve been testing the waters, but this is the real deal. Drinks and beats abound from 8pm – 3am. See ya there.
