Welcome to quaffing season, team, where the days are short, the nights are long, and a little drop of red goes down an absolute treat after a long day at work. To that point, we have some very (and I mean, very) good news that involves a nice bottle of red wine and Snoop Dogg. Yep, Snoop dee oh double gee.
Back in 2020, Snoop Dogg partnered with wine brand 19 Crimes and it quite simply went bonkers. The wine is, by all reports, genuinely delicious, which is exactly why we plan to stock up and make it our signature tipple for the season (not just because the label is chic and makes us look like we know a thing or two about wine). Not only that, the partnership also includes a $100K donation made last year to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund in light of protests over racial injustice and police brutality in addition to working on a long-term plan on providing support to the community.
Now, on the flavour. The 19 Crimes Snoop Cali Red is a full and dense red wine blend, with black and blue fruit notes up front courtesy of the Petite Sirah and bright red, slightly candied fruit in the background thanks to the Zinfandel. According to 19 Crimes, it’s all tied together by darkling toasted oak and has a slightly sweet finish.
Truthfully though, we prefer Snoop Dogg’s description. “My smooth 19 Crimes Cali Red is meant to be sipped slow, making it a perfect pairing for throwing some slow-cooked ribs on the grill,” he said at the time of launch. Snoop added that a brown sugar rub on the ribs “deliciously complements the vanilla and chocolate notes” in his red wine.
