Reddit Threatened To Call The Po-Po On These “Un-Australian” ANZAC Cookies

Despite the fact large swathes of the population spend ANZAC Day getting shit faced and betting sweaty handfuls of ten dollar notes on the result of a coin being thrown in the air, the term ANZAC does still mean a huge deal to Australians, even when it concerns the humble biscuit.

ANZAC biccies, it turns out, are as important to our national identity as Simpson and his donkey and this is why Reddit Australia has spent the better portion of today kicking up a huge stink over the existence of this Cauliflower shortbread Anzac cookie, which I assume, flies in the face of everything we hold dear.

Peeps are super cranky at this abomination of the ANZAC spirit, with it’s status as being gluten, dairy, soy, egg and refined sugar free, a truly heinous slight:

Going further than just being upset about this hipster version of our national biscuit, discussion turned to the legalities of it all, as there are strict rules around use of the ANZAC word:

OH SHIT SON THE LAW ‘BOUT TO COME DOWN ON YOU AND YOUR INFERNAL COOKIES.

Yeah, not really, as the company behind the product, messaged a Redditor in the group an apology and a promise that it will be discontinued:

In a rare example of peace on the internet, Reddit Aus have mostly accepted the apology and moved the hell on. Bloody straya as, I reckon.
