Philadelphia’s Best Pizza Joint Is Hitting Sydney With A Pop-Up This Month

It’s been regarded as the best pizza in Philadelphia (and potentially all of America), and now it’s headed for Sydney. The brains behind Philly’s Pizzeria Beddia are opening up a week-long pop-up restaurant at Bondi Beach Public Bar at the end of the month, slinging its revered pizza pies to lucky Aussies.

The man behind the dough is Joe Beddia, who opened up in an unsuspecting shopfront five years ago in Philly, produces a phenomenally small run of pizzas every day. His pizzeria has no phone, no seating, and no card payments. Beddia manages to cook up and immediately sell out the 40ish pizzas he and his only other employee make four nights a week. It’s like a limited edition, but it’s also mouth-watering pizza and a very no-frills approach to selling them.

Beddia is opening the doors on his bespoke 60-seat Bondi pizzeria – made entirely of pizza boxes – on July 22 from 6pm and will run till July 28, working local ingredients into the menu, and paired with Aussie natural wines.

Plus Joe Beddia is besties with Eric Wareheim (one half of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!) so you know it’s gunna be weirdly great.

If the Philly food spot is anything to go by, there will be a line for these pizzas for some time before the doors open so if you’re really serious about your pie, then get the hell down to Bondi Beach on the 22nd nice and early. And maybe bring cash.
