Macca’s Free Quarter Pounder Promotion Has Caused Pandemonium In Sydney

There’s no possible world in which this should be surprising to any of you, but Macca’s decision to give away 250,000 free Quarter Pounder in celebration of International Burger Day has lead to reasonably chaotic scenes in several busy McDonald’s outlets across the country.

The quarter of a million free burgies are on offer throughout the day, with punters needing to log in to the MyMaccas app in order to get their hands on a tasty free treat. Quite obviously, it’s been more than a bit popular.

As the lunch rush hit this afternoon, busy inner city locations have been slammed by hoards of hungry punters clamouring to get their (quarter) pound of flesh.

In Sydney, posts on social media have captured crowds out the door as poor counter workers struggle to keep up with the demand for the delicious free treaties.

Bloody heads on ’em like mice I tell you.

As with all high volume days there has been a handful of hiccups; the kind of mistakes you’d expect when you’re forcing scores of teenage casual workers to slap together burgers at break-neck speeds.

There was this double bottom bun effort, which frankly I have absolutely no problem with whatsoever.

Elsewhere, there was this effort, which seems to lack a certain weight.

By and large though, it all seems to be going off without too many hitches, which is remarkable when you consider the fact they’re giving away two hundred and fifty thousand free burgers today.

The deal remains valid until either tomorrow or such time as all quarter million quarter pounders are allocated. So there’s still time to get around Ronald and see what’s good.

Free burgs, mates. Free. Burgs.
