KFC Is Reportedly “Working On” A Vegan Chicken Burger In The UK

Vegan mates out there will know that KFC isn’t exactly the safest turf to tread on when searching for a box of greasy salvation in your various hungover hours of need. But thanks to the company’s UK division, that could all be about to change.

KFC UK is reportedly “working on” a vegan chicken burger that, we don’t think we need to tell you, would stand as an absolute gamechanger in the fast food industry.

BBC One TV host Nisha Katona revealed the company is working on the plant-based alternative dish after filming at the company’s development kitchen facility in London.

Katona also clarified that the burger, which is still a work in progress at this stage, is a “brilliant product” even at this early stage of development.

It’s likely that UK eaters won’t see any version of the burger on menus for quite some time yet; products of this nature take some time to develop before they reach any sort of limited roll-out testing phase. Meanwhile KFC Australia has no plans to follow suit at this stage; introducing a vegan burger would likely require tweaks to the rest of their menu to ensure access to sides and chippies and the like, which currently are not vegan.

For what it’s worth, if you’re absolutely fanging for a vegan-friendly stint at the Chook Depository, you’d be best served to take a quick trip to a KFC in either Vietnam, where a vegan sandwich launched in 2018, or Canada, that’s had a vegetarian sandwich with a vegan option on it for a few years longer than that.

It’s all happening, vegan mates!
