We’re once again in the last month of summer, and our social diaries are slowly becoming more and more empty. One day you’re a walking-talking Google Calendar notification and the next you’re struggling to even cop a date on the Tindz. Well, dear mates, I’m here to make sure you stop that nonsense before you become a social recluse who has no idea how they got that way.
Dan Murphy’s are throwing a sensory shindig in Sydney’s Chippendale next month, at the abandoned heritage house 48 Kensington. If you’ve ever been to a pop-up at this address you’ll know that it’s always a bloody good time. And… wait for it… each room has a different theme (which has literally been a dream of mine since forever but I’ve just had a hard time getting mum on board). It’s called “House of Discovery” and that’s one hell of an apt name Mr Murphy.
Each room in the abode explores a different booze and vibe, decked the heck out with Insta-worthy installations.
There’s a fully-fledged tequila bar so you can learn to enjoy the stuff not just shot it and an ‘at-home bartender’ room where you can learn the tricks of the trade at either the Tiki Bar or the 1950’s Martini Bar – if you think you’re more of a James Bond than a Dr Jacoby. There’s also a ‘drinks first, food second’ experience where the food selection follows the lead of the drinks list.
If a full-blown sensory experience with a side of knowledge you can whip out at a house do sounds like your cup of tea-quila, then this is the event for you. Flex Mami will be also spinning tracks all night to keep the house party pumping, making it an all-round good time for mates and dates alike. (If this isn’t a primo date option then I’ve been living a lie.)
