Cancel All Plans, Iconic Brooklyn Pizza Joint Roberta’s Is Popping Up In Syd

A pizza joint favoured by Hilary ClintonBeyoncé and Jay-Z, Roberta’s is landing at Firedoor in Surry Hills for one hell of a pizza party this weekend, kicking off at 1pm. Seriously, Roberta’s has the grungy, ‘get fucked’ vibe of Mary’s, but round pizzy instead of dirty burgers.

The big ‘do, called Fire ‘n’ Slice, is the brainchild of Roberta’s head chef and owner Carlo Mirachi and Firedoor’s Lennox Hastie after the met earlier this year and decided to bring the iconic Brooklyn pizzy to hungry mouths in Sydney.

Firedoor doesn’t normally do pizzas – despite having two woodfire ovens and everyone thinking that they do – so the arrival of Mirachi and his famed dough frisbees will be a new adventure for the Surry Hills spot.

On the menu are some of the Brooklyn institution’s famous Neopolitan-style pizzas and a range of select items from the grill. Basically, just turn up hungry and the pop-up team will do the rest. Belvedere will be on-hand to serve up some Sunday sesh drinks, and Messina will be there to scoop out dessert, including a Neopolitan ice cream made from Messina’s own chocolate, milk from its own jersey cows, and strawberries from its farm in Dural.

Fire ‘n’ Slice begins at 1pm on Sunday, and they’re not taking reservations so you just gotta walk in and hope there’s a seat at the table for you.

Roberta’s will also be bringing over some of their fuckin’ slick merch as well, so be prepared to drop a couple of bucks on some early Christmas presents for yourself.
