Brisbane Residents Will Get Free Delivery With Deliveroo Bc They Deserve A Lil’ Lockdown Treat

Brisbane babes will cop free delivery from more than 1,500 Brissy restaurants through Deliveroo, because they deserve a little treat for their three-day COVID lockdown.

So what is happening in Greater Brisbane, you might ask? Well in order to control a highly-contagious strain of  COVID-19 from the UK, Brisbane is going into a three-day hard lockdown. This is so contact tracers have enough time to ensure the UK variant of COVID is not circulating the community.

From 6pm on Friday (Jan 8), people in the areas of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Redlands and Logan will need to stay home.

Also, anyone who was in Greater Brisbane from January 2, but has since left, will also have to lockdown for the three-days.

But there is a kangaroo-shaped-light at the end of the tunnel and it’s that Deliveroo is offering free delivery to residents in the affected areas for the duration of the lockdown.

“To limit the impact on the hospitality industry, Deliveroo will be covering the cost of free delivery for all customers ordering from participating restaurants,” Deliveroo said in a statement.

Deliveroo spokesperson Ed McManus said that it was part of their commitment to limit the spread of COVID-19.

“With these latest developments in Brisbane, we know our restaurant partners need our support,” McManus told Courier Mail.

“By offering customers free delivery from over 1,500 restaurants we hope to help locals and small businesses through these challenging times.”

The lockdown will follow the same guidelines as the 2020 lockdown. Wow can’t believe that was last year and ~we are still here~.

Those in the Greater Brisbane areas will be allowed to leave the house for these main reasons:

  • Shopping for essentials, food and medical supplies
  • Medical or healthcare needs (including compassionate reasons), as well as providing care or assistance to an immediate family member
  • Exercise – but with no more than one other person, unless you’re all from the same household
  • Work, volunteering or study – but only if it’s not reasonably practical to do so from home

As a Melburnian who did the mother of all lockdowns, I believe in you Brisbane.
