Black Star Pastry Goes Vivid W/ Defs Not Radioactive Glowing Doughnut

While Sydneysiders are want to complain about cold weather, Vivid Sydney is one of the few things that’ll get them out of hibernation.

But if the kaleidoscope of colour and lights isn’t enough to get you out of home, this year Vivid has combined Sydney’s two loves – colourful things and doughnuts – for a glowing dessert that has us real intrigued.

Black Star Pastry, the Newtown bakery behind Instagram’s fave watermelon and strawberry cake, are behind this ‘glownut’ – a glow in the dark glazed doughnut, duh. But it’s just one treat to tempt at the Glow Cave Dessert Bar in Martin Place. Which is exactly what it sounds like.

New York’s hottest club is Glow Cave Dessert Bar.
In addition to glownuts, you can grab Black Star’s glowing doughnut balls or a slice of black sesame yuzu cake, matched with warm glowin’ white chocolate and honey drinks from N2 Gelato. Prices range from $5-$8.

It’s all part of Lux Populi, a pop-up space by Motti+Smith that’s taking over Martin Place with booze and food from some of Syd’s most notable names, including Porteno, LP Quality Meats, Archie Rose Distillery and Stanbuli. Just be sure to leave room for dessert.
We’re thinking this is going to draw a crowd. But you should still be sweet to score a dessert, since the Glow Cave is open every night until Vivid ends on Saturday 17 June. So, the only question is: how many glowing doughnuts can you eat in three weeks?
