Too often during winter, we’re forced to choose between a warm drink or a cocktail. Like the El Paso girl before me, my first thought has always been ‘why can’t we have both’? Warm cocktails are where it’s at, IMHO.

Now obviously we’re all aware of Mulled Wine. Personally, I love it, but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

So I’ve done the lord’s work and searched around for the best recipes for warm winter cocktails and provided you with a list of booze you’ll need to buy to pull them off. I know, I know, I am truly selfless.

1. Bourbon

@rosemarystime

drinking this quickly is super fun because the cold bourbon and warm berries mingle together ❤️ #cottagecore #cocktail #easyrecipe #fyp

Let some heated up berries warm your bourbon for this unique cocktail that’s basically a health drink, right? Try using Jack Daniels (700mL, $45). Simple, classic, cosy.

2. Spiced Rum

I’m a Millenial, so any Harry Potter reference is going to make my heart sing. Like this Hot Buttered Rum recipe that is basically Butterbeer using Captain Morgan Spiced Rum (1L, $45).

3. Whiskey

@katielopynski

hot toddy✨ whiskey + honey + lemon + water + cinnamon.. how do you like to keep warm? #hottoddy #familyrecipe #workingathome #cocktails

If you’re more a fan of the classics, you can just make a regular Hot Toddy with whiskey. There are heaps of recipe variations out there, but this one looked the best. You’ll just need honey and Talisker Scotch Whisky (700mL, $77).

And yes, I know bourbon is also whiskey but we all know they’re not the same so don’t come for me.

4. Brandy

You’re going to be drinking coffee anyway, right? So just spike that bad boi up. Try St Remy Brandy (700mL, $36) and a little Disaronno (700mL, $52) for this warm coffee cocktail recipe.

5. Baileys

I have three words for you: Baileys hot chocolate. Name a better drink to sip in your winter jimjams, I’ll wait. Grab a bottle of Baileys Original Irish Cream (1L, $40) and give this recipe a red hot go.

6. Apple Cider

Cider is quite the crowd-pleaser, and it’s perfect to winter up. Again, there are heaps of Mulled Cider recipes out there, but this one sounds particularly pleasing.

You’ll need Absolute Vodka (1L, $60), bourbon, Cointreau Liqueur (700mL, $52) and, of course, some Young Henrys Apple Cider (six-pack of 330mL, $21).

Those should keep you going through the colder months, yes? Plus you get to pretend you’re all fancy. Cheers to that.
