News.
When we wrote about pint sized fashion blogger Tavi over a year ago we praised the then 12 year old's rigorous pop culture knowledge (back then we cited references to Sigmund Freud, Agyness Deyn, Deborah Harry and Dharma and Greg), her eloquent-beyond-her-years wit and her quirky Japanese-leaning style. In twelve months our wonder hasn't changed a bit but Tavi's stature certainly has.
Like many I had initial fears that Tavi's blog would be a flash in the pan like most ideas in fashion, or worse, masterminded by some opportunist adult relative. Thankfully neither scenario has transpired and Tavi continues to write snappy, insightful, pop culture referencing and often hilarious copy daily. And my how the adults have noticed.
Earlier this month the 13 year old blogger appeared in preview promotional imagery for Katie Grand's LOVE Magazine (pictured right) and has recently pulled the cover at Grand's previous post, the relaunched POP Magazine.
Oddly the image (pictured right) represents more than one changing of the guard. Firstly we have Dasha Zhukova's inaugural issue in a post Katie Grand POP. We also have the legitimization of blogging as a media platform with one of its brightest stars honoured in the adversary - print. And thirdly the coming of age of the millennials those achingly talented and entrepreneurial pre-teens who grew up engaging with social media and the belief that the world was theirs. What was I doing at thirteen again? Not appearing on magazine covers with illustrations from Damien Hirst that's for damn sure. I'm a fan of your blog Tavi, but you're kinda making me feel inadequate.
