The career progression that follows a successful stint in pop music almost always leads into one of three possible directions:
1. Quality time with a crack pipe (see Whitney Houston, Kerry Katona, Robbie Williams);
2. pantos in the UK (Jason Donovan, Melissa Tkautz); and
3. reality television.

There was a point when Natalie Imbruglia crossed over from ex-soap star to successful recording artist (she sold 9 million albums or something) with a L'Oreal contract, three Grammy nominations and a face so beautiful it hurt to look at directly - so it seemed as if she'd have the kind of staying power of a Kylie; but in the tradition of Danni Minogue and Paula Abdul, primetime television has come calling with her latest gig as a judge on X Factor Australia.

The other judges are Kyle Sandilands, Ronan Keating and Guy Sebastian - no surprises there. There's no confirmation date of when the show will go to air but auditions are about to start - could YOU be the next Random?
