News.
Everyone's favourite potty mouthed Brit, Lily Allen has said she will not be making another record, despite the huge success of her latest offering, ‘It's Not Me, It's You.'
In a blog post that has since disappeared from the wonderful world of cyber space, Allen stated: 'Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause)."
As to be expected, the Internet went a bit bonkers.
As did I.
What? I could of sworn my radio is still being swamped with at least two of her latest hit singles...and I thought it was only the other day I saw her kick ass at the Horden?
Rewind a couple of days and let's figure out what the hell is going on here.
Earlier this week Allen launch a blog titled ‘It's Not Alright' (a play on words based on the title of her first hit album, ‘Alright, Still'? We think so).
In the post, Allen slammed illegal downloading and threw her support behind plans by the British Government to disconnect Limewire, Bit Torrent and other illegal music pirates from the internet.
Problem was - it seems our VB loving brunette may of pulled the old ‘copy and paste' with some parts of her argument from another blog, Techdirt.
Knives were thrown, accusations expressed and pretty soon Allen Tweeted that the blog had been taken down because 'the abuse was getting too much."
Before deleting the posts however, Allen informed her close friends that she would not be returning to the studio with the aforementioned 'Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause)."
Had the internet really come full circle and bitten the ‘Not Fair' singer on the ass?
If you remember, Allen was one of the first artists to be recognised and signed because of the popularity of her MySpace music page. A MySpace blogger from way back, the singer's success is owed largely to the fans that made her tracks their profile song of choice.
Since then however, Allen has had some problems with the net; the once helpful self-promotion tool had turned into a monster.
Or had the internet created a monster in Allen?
Everything from abusive Twitter fights with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton to the almost viral video of her drunken spat with Sir Elton at the GQ awards has resulted in some pretty emotional blogs from Allen in the past, complete of course with a Photo Booth photo of the 24-year-old crying (just incase you didn't believe your blog comments had upset her).
Since raising the white flag via blog entry however, her people have come out saying "She is not quitting pop music and is still promoting her current album, which is why she said she is not thinking ahead to another record."
Yet again another attempt to censor the feisty storm-in-a-teacup? Perhaps.
Will Allen stick to her word? We hope not.
