News.
"Carles and Tao suggested that I email you with information about their new band since you have covered their other projects" begins the email, hmmmm I think, tell me more. "They said that the PR campaign would be 'a complete fucking disaster' if they weren't blogged about by Pedestrian.TV since they would not reach critical alternative markets in Australia" it argues. "As you may already know, Carles and Tao Lin formed a new band called "Jesus Christ." (the indie band). Their EP is slated for a Fall release. They consider themselves to be a 'highly bloggable' topic which will generate hits + comments on Pedestrian."
"I totally agree" I say out loud to no one in particular. I read the email again and conclude that it's the best press release I've ever received. I will blog about this song even if it's instant ear rabies or a bigger pile of shit than Britney's acting career.
I've encountered some pretty desperate Press Releases in my time but this one takes the cake and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I usually detest sycophantic fawning and desperateness but the email had so much of both it appears to have the opposite effect on me. Carles and Tao Lin seeking Australian Alternative Press Coverage reads the email's title. It's from Jessica, a media representative of Tao Lin the self-described "Poet Laureate of Generation Y" and Carles the most relevant bro on the internet.
The email goes onto spruik their new band "Jesus Christ." (the indie band) a stylized gimmick paved in pseduo-earnestness and wrapped in post-modern waves of mind destroying levels. I don't know whether to laugh or stroke my chin and I guess that's the whole point. Or is it? Man, I don't even know anymore...
