2009 is shaping up to be a banner year for The Temper Trap.

The Melbourne four-piece have recently signed an international record deal with newly relaunched UK label "Infectious Records" for a World excluding Australia/NZ and North America deal. The move has seen the UK press in particular embrace the deceptively epic Aussies via some downright gushing reviews. The Guardian called them "The best band to come out of Australia in 10 years.' while NME and BBC have both listed The Temper Trap as a band to watch in 2009. Take it with a grain of salt however because last year The BBC listed: Adele, The Ting Tings, Foals, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, MGMT, Duffy, Glasvegas, Vampire Weekend, Black Kids and Santogold - and I haven't heard of any of those bands.

Across the Atlantic Pitchfork called their first single "Sweet Disposition" "An elegant, radio-friendly anthem, with ringing U2-style guitars and portentous' and stateside in '09 the boys will tackle oppressive heat, cynical music journalists and wanky peers at Austin's South By Southwest music festival.

If that wasn't enough "Sweet Disposition" is also featured in the trailer for (500) Days Of Summer an indie flick starring the indie as fuck Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt which made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and judging from the trailer alone looks awesome. A movie about loving Zooey Deschanel is pretty much a documentary about male geeks everywhere.

Phew. With all the success and attention these guys are getting lets look back to a time when life was simpler for the Temper Trap boys.
