OK, I know the whole crazy acrylic nail thing blew up like forever ago, but some of this stuff still blows my mind.
Some may argue that having nails out-to-there is tacky, or totally impractical (which it is that); but with the amount of tedious work that goes into each nail, and the extreme attention to detail, you can't really argue that it is an art.
There are heaps of nail art competitions out there (mostly in Asia), even one called "Nail Olympics". These competitions are taken very seriously, and winning one would most likely be the highlight of a nail technition's carreer. A lot of this stuff originated in Japan (surprise, surprise). The Asian beauty market accounts for 40 percent of the global market and is estimated to be worth US $39 billion. Woah...
I can only imagine the lifestyle of a woman who keeps her nails like this all the time. She would practically have to be hand-fed. And how would she go to the bathroom?
