"Weapons Of Mass Seduction" the eight offering from New Zealand label Stolen Girlfriends Club moves away from the punk/grunge aesthetic of their roots and embraces a sexier more sophisticated edge.
Taking inspiration from Robert Palmer's Simply Irresistible and Sebastien Tellier's Roche to form "Sexual Sportswear", their words not ours, Stolen Girlfriends Club lifts the sporty body con club wear of London designers Giles Deacon and Christopher Kane (particularly the fluorescent zipper detailing of Kane's 2007 collection) and make a sneaky nod to the strong shouldered silhouette pioneered by Balmain, though in their defence who hasn't. There's also a blatant ripoff of Alexander Wang's ubiquitous leather sleeved denim jacket but we won't hold the derivative nature of the range against them it's confident, effortlessly cool, and as the collection's name might suggest sexy as all hell. If looks could kill these Weapons Of Mass Seduction would cause hipster genocide.
