If you're a flag AND food enthusiast you may want to sit down. You may also want to explain the appeal of flags because we just see towels tied to sticks...

Just kidding. We love flags as much as we love food so the following images, produced by Australian advertising agency WHYBIN/TBWA, appeases the inner geography nerd and pompous foodie alike. The images celebrate next month's Sydney International Food Festival and depict the flags of twelve countries made entirely from the distinct culinary fare of each respective destination. The image above, a Southern Cross/Meat Pie amalgam just might be the most Australian image we've ever set eyes on.

Australia
Brazil
France
Italy
India
Greece
Lebanon
South Korea
Japan
Switzerland
Spain
Vietnam

(Full disclosure: India I wasn't sure about, and Lebanon I had no idea)

Would have been friendly for the editors to put the names in the Alt-Text...

Thanks, Martin.
Yes, it would have been helpful, but not as much fun.

Yeah it would have been good if they had included all in the alt tags. Oh well.

a canuck, maybe I, should drizzle a bright red maple syrup over snow for the canadian flag. we dont have many foods of our own being only a couple hundred years old

All that comes to mind is delicious canadian poutine...

I guess Canadian bacon's too pink. . . and obvious. The only thing that would come to mind is some sort of native berry (raspberries?).

Actually we don't really see "Canadian Bacon" as anything especially identifying, mainly because we don't call any bacon Canadian. Now back bacon or peameal bacon is popular in quite a few areas. However 90% of the product I've seen labeled "Canadian Bacon" in the US is just smoked ham.

I was actually doing pretty good at naming the flags until Spain stumped me. With so many "bar" flag I started second guessing the colours. Of course all the food looks amazing and giving me the munchies.
